Eminem's "Bending Words" Technique Explained

Eminem’s “Bending Words” Technique Explained

Eminem how to write choruses

Eminem sometimes “bends” words, pronouncing them in a way that makes them sound alike even if they don’t normally rhyme. This technique can be seen in “Lose Yourself,” when he rhymes:

“arms are heavy”
with
“Mom’s spaghetti”

The words “arms” and “Mom’s” do not have exactly the same vowel sound in the middle, but he pronounces them so that they work together as a type of rhyme.

Stat Quo
With Eminem, he makes words rhyme that typically don’t rhyme together—he’s good at that. It’s about how he pronounces it.
